Plockton Harbour looks like a mistake, or a miracle, depending on your outlook. The Gulf Stream keeps this sheltered bay warm enough for actual palm trees to grow along Harbour Street, with Loch Carron and the Wester Ross hills providing the backdrop.
It's a working village, not a theme park. The harbour is genuinely beautiful in any light. Come in the late afternoon when the mountains catch the gold.
