Padstow has been transformed by Rick Stein's restaurant empire into one of the UK's most famous food destinations, but the harbour itself, the painted boats, the estuary views, and the walk to Rock across the water are what make it worthwhile.
Go in shoulder season (May or October) to avoid the worst of the summer crowds. The crab sandwiches from the harbour shacks beat any restaurant in town.
