The buildings on Tobermory's harbour front are painted in a sequence of blues, reds, yellows, greens and pinks that looks almost too good to be real. In real life it's even better, with fishing boats moored in front and the wooded hillside rising behind. Every visit produces outstanding content without effort.
Main Street runs the length of the harbour, walk it slowly, stop in the distillery, eat a crab sandwich on a bench. The ferry port at Craignure is 40 minutes south.
