The classic route from Wasdale Head is 8 miles and takes 5-6 hours in good conditions. The terrain is rocky and unrelenting above 600m; the summit, on a clear day, shows you half of England.
Go prepared: proper boots, layers, waterproofs, navigation app or map. Not a mountain to underestimate. The Wasdale Head Inn at the bottom is one of the best post-hike pubs in the country.
