Abandoned after WWI and rediscovered in 1990 with the gardeners' tools still rusting where they left them. The restoration project became one of the largest in Europe and the result is extraordinary, a jungle valley, Italian garden, kitchen gardens, and a steamy tropical ravine.
Easily half a day, longer if you linger. The Jungle is the unmissable section. Go when it's been raining, everything goes greener and more primeval.
