Beeley is a single street of stone estate cottages owned by the Chatsworth estate, and The Beeley Inn (formerly the Devonshire Arms) sits in the middle of it looking like it was built for a film set and turned out to be real. Low ceilings, open fires, local ale, and a menu that takes the Chatsworth Farm Shop produce seriously. Rooms upstairs if you want to stay.
It is three miles from Chatsworth House and the natural pairing for a visit, lunch before or dinner after, either works. Booking required for weekends, and the fireplace table in winter requires advance planning.
