The Cluny is in a Victorian warehouse on the bank of the Ouseburn, in the creative quarter that has quietly become Newcastle's most interesting neighbourhood. The bar has a terrace over the river, a back room that hosts live music most weekends, and a selection of draught beers that reflects the considerable number of Northeast breweries that have opened in the last decade.
The Ouseburn as a whole rewards exploration. Seven Stories children's book centre, the Victoria Tunnel entrance, independent studios, and the Tyne Bar downstream. The Cluny is the natural beginning or end of that walk.
