Happy Valley Gardens sit at the base of the Great Orme on the slope facing town, a Victorian pleasure garden with bowling green, open-air theatre and a viewpoint that looks out over the bay without requiring the cable car. Most visitors walk straight past it on their way to the pier.
It's free, it's quiet and it has the easy pleasantness of something that was designed for summer days. A good first stop before climbing higher.
