Glenashdale Falls

FreeoutdoorWhiting Bay, Isle-of-arran

Arran's best waterfall walk through ancient yew woodland above Whiting Bay.

Free entry

Glenashdale Falls drops 35 metres through a gorge of ancient yew and oak woodland in the south of Arran. The walk up from Whiting Bay takes about an hour through genuinely old trees, and the falls reward the effort with a proper spectacle.

Iron Age forts sit on the hillside above, the walk can be extended to take them in. Good path, free, and rarely crowded outside summer weekends.
