Brodick Castle rises above Brodick Bay in a setting that makes it look exactly as a Scottish castle should, forested hills behind, views across the Firth of Clyde below. The gardens are exceptional in May when the rhododendrons are in full bloom, the collection being one of the finest in Scotland.
The National Trust runs both castle and country park. The woodland beyond the formal gardens is free to explore and contains ancient trees and good paths.
