Rogie Falls

£0–£5outdoorContin, Inverness

Waterfalls, a suspension bridge and salmon leaping upstream, free, and completely underrated.

£0–£5 per person (parking)

Rogie Falls is one of those Highland spots that earns its reputation through the real thing rather than the hype. The falls crash below a swaying suspension bridge, dramatic in any weather, and in season, Atlantic salmon launch themselves upstream in a spectacle that feels genuinely ancient.

It's free, it's close to Inverness, and it photographs like a film still. Pack waterproofs; the path gets muddy.
