Black Isle Brewery

£10–£20barMunlochy, Inverness

Scotland's pioneering organic craft brewery, a taproom and cafe 20 minutes north of Inverness on the Black Isle.

£10–£20 per person

Black Isle Brewery was doing organic craft beer before craft beer was a marketing category. The farm brewery sits on the Black Isle peninsula north of Inverness, surrounded by the fields where the barley grows, and the taproom serves the full range alongside food that uses the farm and surrounding producers. Red Kite and Goldeneye are the headline ales.

Worth combining with a drive around the Black Isle itself. Chanonry Point for dolphins (the best place in Britain to see bottlenose dolphins from shore), Fortrose Cathedral, and the views over the Cromarty Firth. The taproom is open Thursday to Sunday; check ahead in winter.
