Byres Road is the spine of West End Glasgow, a mile of independent shops, bookshops, delis, and some of the best café culture in Scotland. Artisan Roast, Singl-end, and Offshore are the headline coffee names, but it's the side streets. Ashton Lane, Cresswell Lane, Ruthven Lane, that reward wandering, with small courtyards, vintage shops, and the occasional hidden terrace.
This is a neighbourhood for a slow morning rather than a quick tick. Buy a coffee, buy a book, sit in a lane. Glasgow's West End operates at a pace that a lot of cities claim to offer and few actually deliver.
