National Museum of Scotland

FreegalleryOld Town, Edinburgh

Free world-class museum spanning Scottish history, natural science, and design in Old Town.

Free entry

Five floors of everything from Dolly the sheep to Viking combs, Lewis chessmen to a Spitfire hanging from the ceiling. The Victorian grand hall alone is worth the visit, and it's completely free.

Genuinely one of the best museums in Britain. Locals take it for granted; everyone else can't believe how good it is.
