Dean Village

FreeactivityDean Village, Edinburgh

A 12th-century milling village tucked into a riverbank gorge, hidden inside Edinburgh.

Free entry

Dean Village sits 30 seconds from Queensferry Street and feels like a different century. The Water of Leith runs beneath old stone buildings, weeping willows lean into the water, and the cobbles are exactly as they appear in every Pinterest board. It really does look like that.

Walk down from the Dean Bridge, follow the Water of Leith Walkway west towards Stockbridge for a genuinely peaceful thirty minutes. Bring a camera with a wide angle.
