The high street drops steeply from the hill to the river, lined with antique shops, tea rooms, independent bookshops, and buildings that span every century from the medieval to Georgian. The 12th-century church at the bottom is substantial and free.
Easier to reach than some Cotswold towns and less visited than the set-piece villages. Good base for exploring the Windrush valley.
