The Queen's Quarter is the neighbourhood around Queen's University. Botanic Avenue, Stranmillis, the Lisburn Road, and it's the most rewarding part of Belfast to walk without a plan. The streets are lined with Victorian terraces, independent coffee shops, bookshops, and restaurants that have been here long enough to be good at what they do.
The diversity of the neighbourhood is visible in its food options. You'll find Lebanese, West African, Vietnamese, and Italian within a few streets of each other, most of it independently run and priced for students. Botanic Avenue on a Saturday afternoon is one of the most straightforward pleasures Belfast offers.
Start at the Botanic Gardens, walk up Botanic Avenue, turn onto the Lisburn Road, and eat somewhere along the way back. The whole thing takes an afternoon and costs as much or as little as you want it to.
