Sally Lunn's

£12–£28cafeBath Old Town, Bath

Bath's most historic bakery. Sally Lunn buns have been served here since 1680 in a genuinely medieval building.

£12–£28 per person

Sally Lunn's occupies one of Bath's oldest buildings and has been serving its famous buns, a large, brioche-like creation that's become the signature of Bath's culinary history, since 1680. The basement museum shows the original kitchen excavation; the dining rooms upstairs deliver the full experience.

It's unabashedly a tourist spot, but it's one that's earned its place by doing something genuinely unique for over three centuries. The buns, split and served warm with savoury or sweet toppings, are the only thing to order.
