Prior Park Landscape Garden

£10outdoorCombe Down, Bath

National Trust landscape garden above Bath, a Palladian bridge, three lakes, and the city spread below.

£10 per person

Prior Park was designed in the 1730s by Ralph Allen and Capability Brown as a landscape garden to be seen from the city below, and from the garden, the city unfolds across the valley in a view that is still essentially what they intended. The Palladian bridge over the lower lake is one of only four in the world and has been here since 1755.

The garden is managed by the National Trust and car-free, you arrive on foot or by bus from the city. The walk down from the Circus through Widcombe takes about 30 minutes each way and is worth doing rather than taking the bus.
