Wales has a smaller but genuinely thriving African and Caribbean food scene, concentrated on a few key streets in Cardiff and Swansea. Lower Cathedral Road and Whitchurch Road in Cardiff, Walter Road in Swansea, these are the stretches where the community has built something lasting and worth seeking out.
This isn't a tourist-board curated list of international cuisine. These are Black-owned restaurants and bars, most of them on the smaller, local side, doing the food they know. The jollof is smoky, the jerk is properly seasoned, and the welcome is always real. Go hungry.
